Here's a quick tip to rapidly switch between two different tools:
Enable the Switch to Previous Tools toggle in the top-left cog icon View Settings
Tap the icon of another tool (select, paint or erase)
Double-tap the edge of your Apple Pencil 2
Double-tap the Apple Pencil 2 to pick the previous tool
